Since I was a small child, I have been fascinated with the Catholic Church. When I was six, I wanted to be like Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ, and spend eternity with the angels and archangels. By the time I was twelve, I learned that the Catholic Church had demons among its ranks and did not always live according to the words expressed by Christ. I learned that the Catholic Church, under the leadership of Pope Pius XII, did not act to save Jews during the Second World War. As a matter of fact, the Vatican played a significant role in helping Nazi war criminals flee overseas in a secret escape network known as The Italian Ratline.

During this meeting we will discuss the status of our parish. In addition, we will also discuss our continuing effort to keep St. Mary’s church from being sold and demolished.

True Beauty is found everywhere, especially in the arts. Our feature story this month is about the dynamic dance studio Dance Conservatory Seattle that serves professional dancers, as well as local residents who’ve never set foot in a ballet studio before. Regarding Truth & Beauty, I have a peculiar interest in the art world that has manifested itself in my latest book, a fictional account of a woman artist who suffers from a fall in grace (details coming soon). Hispanic Community in Yonkers Rallies to Save Their Church

Parishioners and residents of the city of Yonkers are rallying this evening, at 6pm, to urge the elected officials of the city of Yonkers to take immediate action to accord landmark status to St. Mary’s (Church of the Immaculate Conception).
